Call to Congress

Congress is the legislative body of the Chi Phi Fraternity. It is composed of delegates from Chapters, Colonies, Alumni Associations and Chi Phi Clubs. The annual Congress meets to review the state of the Fraternity and attend to legislative business. Presence of delegates is hereby requested pursuant to the Constitution and Laws of the Chi Phi Fraternity.

Dates and Location

Friday,June 24, 2005 – Sunday, June 26, 2005 at the St. Anthony in San Antonio, Texas – a Wyndham Historic Hotel. Legislative sessions begin at 2:00pm on Friday, June 24, and conclude by 12:00pm onSunday, June 26.

Activities

San Antonio is an amazing, world-class city! In fact, it's the eighth largest city in the United States! It is home to the Alamo, the Riverwalk, San Fernando Cathedral, the McNay Art Museum, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Tower of the Americas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and Sea World San Antonio. The possibilities for site seeing and activities are endless.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to visit San Antonio and spend some extra time enjoying all that it has to offer. Spouses and sweethearts are encouraged to attend.

All of the special hotel rates and airfares are available to delegates several days prior to and after Congress.

Cost

The registration fee for all Chapter, Colony, Alumni Association and Chi Phi Club delegates is $375.00 per person.

Chapters & Colonies have already been automatically billed a Congressional assessment of $750 in anticipation of attendance by two delegates. Pursuant to Motion 2001 of the 138th Congress, all Chapters and Colonies will be billed for two delegates, regardless of their actual attendance. No reimbursements will be made to unrepresented or underrepresented Chapters or Colonies. Alumni Associations and Clubs should include full payment of registration fees along with the registration form.

Driving

If you choose to drive, a map and directions to the St. Anthony Hotel will be emailed along with your registration confirmation on or around June 5.

Flying

If you are flying to San Antonio, you should purchase your plane tickets as early as possible, at least 21 days in advance for the best fare.

Although delegates are not required to use this service, Continental Airlines has been selected as the official airline for the 140th Congress. Delegates flying Continental will receive a 2% discount on fares lower than $298 and a 5% discount on fares over $298 (discounts are based on fares for each one way trip). Tickets purchased at www.continental.com will also receive an additional 3% discount.

To take advantage of these discounts by telephone, call Continental at (800) 468-7022 between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm Central time. You must provide Chi Phi's file number: VNLYVT.

To take advantage of the additional internet discount, visit www.continental.com. Click on the grey “specials” tab. Select “Group and Meeting Travel.” Click “Meetingworks” link near the top. Then click on the “Book Meetingworks Travel” link near the top. You will need to enter the following code ZKSYVNLYVT.

A credit card will be required to confirm all travel arrangements. Please note that these discounted fares are not available through Continental's general reservations offices and must be made by calling the number above.

Registration and Check-In

Registration begins at 9:00am on Friday, June 24. You should plan to arrive at the San Antonio Airport no later than 11:00am in order to allow for travel time to the hotel and registration. Departure flights should be scheduled no earlier than 4:00pm on Sunday, June 26 to allow for travel to the airport, airline check-in, and security.

Ground Transportation

A shuttle to or from the airport will cost approximately $12.00 each way. A Taxi will cost approximately $20 each way.

If traveling by car from San Antonio International Airport take Hwy. 281 South (IH-37 south). Exit Houston St. and turn right. Follow to Broadway. Turn left. Follow to Travis St. and turn right. Hotel is located one block on left. Approx. 20 minutes.

A special room rate of $109.00 per room, per night based on single or double occupancy has been negotiated for delegates and their guests. In order to receive this rate, room reservations must be made by May 23, 2005 and you must mention that you are attending the Chi Phi Congress.

If you would like to travel to San Antonio prior to Congress or stay late for a mini-vacation and site seeing, the discounted room rate is also available two days before Congress.

All reservations must be made directly with the Saint Anthony by calling 210-227-4392. Please be prepared to guarantee your reservation by credit card.

Confirmation

A confirmation of your Congress registration will be emailed to you on or around June 5. Accurate email addresses are essential. Included in your confirmation will be further details regarding Congress, a copy of the Chi Phi Constitution, information about the spouse program, as well as a guide to issues facing the 140th Congress.
